Easter Basket Idea: Sand Bucket
Dear Heather,
This might be too easy, but it’s worked great for us. I have two boys (2 and 1) and another tyke on the way. Because my kids are smaller, I like to find things that they can help with and craft.
I thought of this idea for Easter baskets while shopping at Micheal’s Craft Store (which is starting to have great, cheap craft sections for kids).
Why buy each of your children an Easter basket that they’ll use once a year and then you have to stuff back in storage. The weather is starting to warm up, we’re cleaning out the sandboxes, and making lists of new outdoor toys we need to get.
Instead of Easter baskets, why not buy a big sandbox bucket to put all the kids’ Easter goodies in???? It cost me $1 at Micheal’s (they are pretty big and also come with a shovel attached). Then I bought a book of 600 Easter stickers for $1 and let my boys decorate their own pail. So there is their craft. (plus we have TONS of stickers left over to use on Easter Egg Cutouts and other projects).
Now after Easter is over and they eat all their candy, they have a new sandbox toy to play with!
Bucket w/ Shovel: $1
Easter Stickers: $1
