Make a Paint Chip Easter Egg Garland
My paint chip obsession developed at a very young age. My dad is an avid DIY-er, one of those guys whose to-do list never seems to get shorter no matter how many projects he completes. And so it was that many, many weekends of my childhood were spent wandering around home improvement stores. While my parents were busy weighing the costs and features of new kitchen faucets or debating over which style of baseboard would look best in the living room, I was occupied with my own important decision: which colors of paint did I like best? Much to my mother’s chagrine, I would walk out every time with my pockets crammed full of rainbows.
A couple of decades later, I still find it impossible to wander past a display rack of paint colors without grabbing at least a few of them. I’ve found comfort, however, in knowing that I’m not alone in my colorful addiction. There are plenty of other crafty souls out there, like Steph from Modern Parents Messy Kids, who also have stacks of them laying around. She used her stash to whip up a super-cute and super-quick Easter egg garland! She even provides a sheet of printable egg-shaped templates to make the process a cinch. Older kids will be able to complete the garland on their own; younger children will enjoy helping with tracing, cutting, and stringing the eggs, all of which are great for developing fine motor skills. Thanks so much for featuring me – glad to know I’m not the only one that feels compelled to collect paint chips!
WHAT A NEAT IDEA. HOW INGENIOUS AND PRETTY. I TOO AM ALWAYS LOOKING FOR THINGS TO DO WITH THOSE. I MAKE BOOKMARKS OUT OF THE LONG ONES ON STRIPS. JUST PRETTIES THINGS UP A BIT I THINK.
I went to home depot this weekend to buy a rake. Well, I came out with my rake and a purse full of paint chip cards. I am just starting this crafting stuff. I sat in front of the TV watching my favotite baseball team and made my easter egg garland. My husband looked rather strange at me while I was doing it. But after he helped me hang it over the fireplace he was pleasantly surprised. I LOVE IT!
