Make Your Own Watercolors

Watercolors have been a staple childhood art supply for generations.  They’re relatively mess-free, don’t require any special materials for use or cleanup, and can be used with many different techniques to create all kinds of interesting effects.  While you’ve probably painted with watercolors before, you’ve likely never considered making your own!  Michelle from (purveyor of fun at Etsy shop Hi Mamma) wrote a fabulous tutorial for Oh My! Handmade Goodness that shows how to do just that.  You probably even have all of the ingredients you need tucked away in your pantry!  [how to make your own watercolors]

Project materials:

  • Baking soda
  • Corn starch
  • White vinegar
  • Light corn syrup
  • Food coloring
  • Recycled lids, egg carton, or other shallow containers
