Make a $1 Wax Paper and Crayon Chandelier

Jan 9, 2012 by Pin It

Oooooh, this is good! Jamie from The Letter 4 created this too-lovely-to-be-so-simple chandelier from a lamp shade frame, crayon shavings and wax paper! This could be done so easily with any number of baskets/bins/trash cans you find at the dollar store! Get the kids involved with the crayon shavings, punching and stringing the circles! I just want to get some pom poms and do a proper cheer for Jamie!!

Wouldn’t this potentially melt or burn? I could see myself making this and either covering it with contact before cutting or lamenating the circles and cutting out to protect surfaces and strengthen. Then I’d hook them up to the window lace curtain or straight on the glass as a sun catcher.

    • do you mean burn during the ironing? or are you thinking that there are actual lights as part of the “chandelier?” Maybe it’d be better to called it a “mobile” as there are no actual lights as part of the the project…nothing to melt or burn! hope that helps clear things up!

From the globe. Good idea :) Would be interesting interspersed with transparent beads and hung like a fringe around the bottom of a lamp shade. You could also place fine feathers and leaves in wax paper. Hmmm… Pictures and photos too? Could make a wall hanging or bedroom door way decorative drop. Christmas garland perhaps?

this would be so sweet in a nursery or playhouse! I’m thinking of somehow incorporating those battery operated ‘tea lights’ from the dollar store with this…
