Make Melted Bead Suncatchers

Suncatchers are a perennially fun project and have been among my favorites since I was a kid.  I also always liked bead projects if all kinds, so this idea combining the two is a hit in my book.  Jean from The Artful Parent used pony beads arranged in muffin tins to create a cheerful, colorful front porch display.  You can use other bakeware for this project too – the large circle was made using a cake pan!  [how to make melted bead suncatchers]

As with any melted plastic project, the heat will cause it to release toxic (and stinky) fumes.  Instead of using the oven in your kitchen, the tutorial includes a couple of alternative, outdoor methods to keep the air in your home safe and odor-free!

Project materials:

  • Pony beads
  • Muffin tin
  • Heat source
