Pretty Party Buffet Ideas

I recently helped throw a bridal shower for my sister, and it turned out so pretty! One of the key features was a gorgeous buffet with light appetizers and dessert. Here are some of the things we did to create a beautiful display:

• Natural color scheme: We used off-white linens, natural brown burlap, and handmade doilies.
• Heirloom pumpkins: Since the shower was in early October, we made use of the gorgeous heirloom pumpkins we got from our local pumpkin patch. They also fit in well with our natural color scheme. We added doilies to the top of some of them to add a handmade and romantic feel.
• Create height: To add interest and drama to the table, we added height with a stack of natural-colored books, cake plates and tiered serving trays.

Two of my favorite things at the party:

• A giant mason jar spraypainted with lace, then filled with tiny white pumpkins
• Snickerdoodle pumpkin ice cream sandwiches my mom made (with my grandma’s pumpkin ice cream recipe)

Dollar Store Vases = Cute Veggies

We used dollar store glass vases for veggie sticks (celery, zucchini, and carrots), and smaller glass candle holders for squat veggies like broccoli, cherry tomatoes, and cauliflower.

For sauces, we used clear squeeze bottles labeled with washi tape because we thought these would be less messy than a bowl of sauce with a spoon. You can get these at restaurant supply stores for less than a dollar each.

The dressings were yummy! Honey Cinnamon Yogurt Sauce and Avocado Yogurt Dressing.

No Cheesy Shower Games!

Instead of a cheesy wedding shower game, we just let guests mingle and hang out, and we provided a Smash Book station for them to write memories, good wishes, blessings, and congratulations for the bride. We let guests embellish their notes and put them into a Smash Book.
