Mom Confessions: I would totally wear clothes from the girls department at Target (and how to DIY them)

Mom confession: I would totally wear clothes from Target's girls department (and some ideas for how to DIY them)

It’s been 25 years (or more) since shopping in the girls’ department was appropriate for me, but that doesn’t stop me from wishing I could wear stuff from Target’s girl section every time I walk by it. For some reason, my taste in clothes hasn’t matured even though I am old enough to remember the first time 80s fashion came around!

So yeah, Kool-Aid taste on a champagne budget. Ha!

I can prove it! Here is a recent shot of me in one of my current favorite cardigans.

Mom Confession: I have tween taste in clothes

I did buy it at Target, but thankfully, in my own size. I am not one of those women who can still shop the boys and girls section and get away with it. If only!

Here are some of the cute things I spotted this week.

I could totally DIY this shirt (and maybe I will)!

Mom Confession: I would totally wear this t-shirt from the Target girls section!

All I’d need to do is put a zipper on the pocket of a pink tee, and ruche the sides and sleeves. Detaching and reattaching the sleeves to make them more “puffy” would be good too, but that sounds like too much work.

I would totally wear this target girls' raglan lace sweatshirt

I would totally wear this target girls’ raglan lace sweatshirt! It just so happens that we featured a DIY lace-covered cardigan last week — you could use a similar technique to cover a sweatshirt with lace. Yeah, I totally want to try it!

I would wear this Target girls' pink sweatshirt with metallic silver polka dots.

I would wear this Target girls’ pink sweatshirt with metallic silver polka dots — another one that would be super easy to DIY. I think I might stray from the Girls’ department pink, though. To make it, get a long sleeve t-shirt, a spouncer(round foam brush), and some metallic silver fabric paint.

I would wear these faded polka dot jeans from Target's girls section! click for how to DIY it

I would wear these faded polka dot jeans, too! Feeling the polka dots for sure! What you’d need to DIY these is a pair of faded jeans, the aforementioned spouncer, and some watered-down white fabric paint.

I would totally wear this blouse from Target's girls department!

I would wear this shirt, too, but I can’t think of an easy way to DIY it. No worries, though — this one looks just like a bunch of the stuff they always have in the Target juniors department.

And I DO shop there. đŸ™‚

I think the exact same thing when I walk by the girls section at Target and the store Justice.

I often think the same thing when passing the lil’ girls’ section… very cute selections. And just an FYI in regards to the lace-overlay shirt: I saw the same style in the women’s dept. at my local (Oklahoma) Wal-mart! Nice grown-up colors, and great spring fabric. =) Happy DIYing…
