Make Your Own Mercury Glass!

DIY Mercury Glass

Do you love the look of vintage mercury glass but hate the crazy price tag? So did my friend Kristina Ackerman at Knuckle Salad, so she decided to make her own. After many failed trials using a variety of metallic paints, she developed an awesome technique that is drop dead beautiful! I love the antiqued look that she achieved with just a few supplies. Project Materials

  • reclaimed glass – jars, bottles, wide-mouth vases…anything that you can stick your hand into – cleaned well
  • water
  • vinegar
  • empty spray bottle
  • Krylon Looking Glass Spray Paint – Kristina says that you must use this specific paint for the project to work.
  • paper towel
  • strong glue – e600 would work well
