10 Christmas Ornaments to Make with Your Kids

10 Christmas Ornaments to Make with Your Kids

Need something to entertain the kiddos at Thanksgiving or your tree trimming party? Set up an ornament-making table! They’ll love seeing their creations on your tree, and maybe you can sneak in a few minutes for grown up talk and a mugful of nog while they’re crafting. Some of these kid-made ornaments may require more supervision than others, so choose the one that will work best for your kids.

Kid-made ornaments also make great gifts for grandparents, so don’t worry if your kiddos want to make more ornaments than you could possibly fit on your own tree.

1. Pom Pom Pinecones – Dig This Chick used hot glue, but you could use tacky glue if you don’t want to leave your kids only semi-supervised with a hot glue gun.

2. Scrap Ribbon Tree – Raid your ribbon stash, and make a mini tree to hang on your Christmas tree.

3. Preserved Fall Leaves – These super simple preserved leaves would make perfect ornaments. Your kids can help you collect and Mod Podge the leaves, then tie on a loop of string to hang them from the tree.

4. Puffy Paint Ornaments – Younger kids may not make super precise designs, but they can still have painty fun and hang their handiwork on the tree.

5. Glitter Pasta Snowflakes – There’s something nostalgic about pasta crafts, but these glitter ornaments are a little bit fancier than the macaroni art I remember making as a kid.

6. Peppermint Ornaments – Melted peppermints molded in metal cookie cutters are the key to these festive ornaments. Kids can help arrange everything on the trays and hang the results.

7. Handprint Ornaments – Hang these on the tree or make them as grandparent gifts.

8. Baking Soda Ornaments – Older kids can help you make the dough, but kids of any age can form it into ornaments or make them from cookie cutters.

9. Lego Ornaments – Raid your kid’s Lego stash to make cool ornaments. Download free pdf guides to make a bunch of different Leg ornaments from Chris McVeigh.

10. Popsicle Stick Snowflakes – A little paint, a little glue, a lot of buttons. Your kids will love putting these together!
